Your chargeback may have been denied for various reasons. Here are some common eligibility criteria that could lead to a chargeback being refused:
-
The transaction was authorized via SCA by the cardholder
The transaction was authorized by SCA (Strong Customer Authentication), a security requirement that verifies electronic payments using at least two forms of identification. This can include:
- Verification code received via SMS
- Transaction validated by a paired device
- Physical transaction authorized by PIN
-
There is evidence of negligence or fraud by the cardholder
After analysis, it appears that you did not take adequate security measures to protect your financial information or directly engaged in fraudulent behavior, such as attempting to obtain a refund for authorized transactions.
-
The deadline for requesting a chargeback has expired
Depending on the type of transaction you want to dispute, there are different time limits:
- 13 months for fraud
- 90 days for a commercial dispute
- 13 months for an ATM dispute
-
The transaction has already been disputed
Once a transaction is disputed, the case will be carefully analyzed. If a refund is not possible, it will not be possible to dispute the same transaction again.
